friday was a holiday--the big prayer day. nobody i knew really did any visible praying, but we were all thankful for a day off where the sun mostly shined. what we did was have a huge bonfire--should probably have saved that for sankt hans and burning (one of) the witches, but we didn't.
even small children were enlisted to carry large pieces of trees over to the fire.
we roasted hotdogs over the fire and the kids made snobrød (bread on a stick, baked over the fire). the fire was really, really hot and so people got in some seriously creative positions to roast their hotdogs and try to escape the heat.
there were lots of kids present
and a big dog
a medium dog
and a super cute little doggie which i was prevented from stealing,
but i came close.
but i came close.
we stayed up far too late and and drank far too much white wine.
but it was a beautiful way to spend a late spring/early summer evening.
it was also a little exhausting.
but totally worth it.
hope your weekend was fabulous wherever you were.
Awesome roasting action. And a dog I would also steal. That's the secret to having them housebroken.
ReplyDeleteOnly went analog out of necessity (read: Zambia), you did better. Cudos.
That had to have been one hot fire! I'm so glad you explained why everyone contorted themselves in that fashion. All for the sake of a hot dog...
ReplyDeleteWay cute post! Looks like a fun time!
ReplyDeleteNice trio of doggies! I particularly like your first photo . . . and the way that the flag is framed. (Is that bright yellow crop rapeseed?)
