a foot fetish?

i'm not that keen on taking pictures of random strangers in public. i think i'm reluctant to have a confrontation if they catch me at it and ten years in scandinavia has rendered me unable to use what should be my natural american ability to just talk to strangers (tho' in all honesty, i'm not sure i ever had it) and ask them if i can snap their picture.  however, i have no problem at all photographing people's feet. it somehow seems safer. you can do it more surreptitiously and i've found that it can be more interesting than you think.

it all started with a really cool tattoo i saw in a really cool spot on a foot. i want.

then i saw these shoes. they were sparkly. i like sparkly. however, i'm less keen on socks with sandals. even if they are pink socks.

then you find yourself sitting someplace with a good coffee and just shooting all of the feet that go by.

there is the occasional odd fashion choice.

and the odd dog.

sometimes there are sweet little people in pink.

then you start looking out for alternative-type people. i have to say, i prefer socks with my docs.

sometimes the shoes surprise.

more cute tattoos. little stars on that same part of the foot.

i think this may be the start of something fun. but at least i'm finally off those eyeballs.

Eyeballs! Feet might be more interesting, but your subjects less easy-going.

Makes me want to go shoe shopping... and do a self pedicure. Not sure who might be clicking pics!

Nice feet-collection! I am a bit obsessed with those too :)
Don't know why really.

Fantastic collection. One day, when I have a moment, I'm going to be uploading some pics to Footearth. My friends and I have taken pictures of our feet for years, time I did something with the collection!

Fun pictures! Thanks for sharing!

I recently went to a wedding in the country (aka my "backyard"). I like to take pictures at these occasions to share with the bride and groom, capturing memories they surely did not have the time to notice. My favorite pictures at this wedding were of the many different shoes that were worn. From mud boots to sparkly cinderella slippers to Chucks. They were all there. It's fun to look at the non-obvious ~ you must be rubbing off on me!

:-)...I love this photographic perspective. Oh what a tale our tooties can tell...and I just happen to have some lovely sparkly shoes that are quite similar to the ones in the second picture. Hmmm...I might have to go get my camera.

I love the way you see things. The "shoe suprise" is great! Hopefully the person has her slippers in a bag and will put them on when she gets where she is going...

fun! and you're right - shooting people's feet would be much easier. I couldn't take random shots of people I didn't know either. love the sparkly shoes. i have some similar.

I LOVE taking surreptitious photos of people and their things! At the Celtic Fair on Saturday I took two photos of a lady because I liked her outfit and two photos of someone else's purse that I want to try and find. It was fun to snap away while they turned their head or looked down. I had a sense of getting away with something.

This have given me an idea for a blog post!

Great unexpected shots! But I think I prefer eyeballs to feet. :) xo

Very cute idea and great pictures of the feet. Now I might start paying attention to the wide foot variety of where my eye usually does not wonder (unless a particularly cute shoe catches my attention). Also, I have a little star tattoo on my foot, too. It's not a bad place. :)

Shoes ARE fascinating; but then everything about people tends to interest me. I'm always wanting to take pictures of people that I see, but I haven't conquered the fear of intrusion (ie, pissing someone off) either.

Last week I saw a red-headed man and his two red-headed sons and their Irish setter jogging on the country lane right across from Hill Top (Beatrix Potter's house). I'm still vexed that I didn't get a pic of it.

how did I miss this ?

I just might have to do this someday at the airport or the mall or.....you know, there really isn't anywhere around here that is very fascinating that way...but I think I just have to try !!!
