and the stitch goes on

the weekend found me stitching...see where the heart has taken me now...

either by hand or with my sewing machine or both...you knew i'd have to have a nikon and a rainbow since nikon rocks the color...

adding the important things to the 9 squares on my journal quilt piece...you knew there would have to be an eyeball...

and if i wasn't stitching, i was thinking about stitching...with newfound love...

which has the most photogenic bobbins i've ever seen...tho' again the light was crap and i refused to use flash...but i kinda like how dramatic they look (no photoshop here, baby)...

i got lots of use out of my beautiful needle case from the lovely melissa at tiny happy...which is also stitched and beautiful...and i am in love with the spool of vintage thread she sent with it, tho' i haven't yet found a use worthy of it...

and i even did some utilitarian stitching (with a bit of whimsy), patching some holes in husband's old jeans and old work pants, so he can get a few extra miles out of them. i used robots, because i thought it would make him laugh and you know we do love our robots around here...

i also used gears, because they are after all his work jeans...and this fabric is from the cosmo cricket cogsmo robot-themed series...(i'm counting these as #76 - there are 5 patches in total and it took longer than you might think, but i got to know some fun stitches on my pfaff sewing machine).

all in all, a very stitched-up weekend.

It makes me laugh to think of your husband and these clever, colorful patches. Even brand-new jeans would like one!

This post makes me want a sewing machine of my own -- and that vintage thread is beautiful.

I really like the quilt! Specially, because you took inspiration from Soul food but have made this project your own! The Nikon is my favourite! So cute!

I forgot to comment in your previous post that your new sewing machine is gorgeous. I'm going hunting in my local recycling centre, maybe I'll find a treasure like this! Did it really come witht that white thread already on? Amazing.

Love that Nikon stitch. I love them all, actually, but this one is my favourite.

I love that camera patch. Been feeling really inspired myself, and made a tent for Little Man. Will post it soon.

i tried to sew at the weekend. a seam. i had to give up and went to the party in stapled-together dress.

It was at least in part the fault of the tools. I am not going to buy needle-and-thread kit in the cheapy chinese store ever again.

anyway, nobody noticed and the dress not only stayed on but looks pretty good - so I guess I am OK with not being able to sew - just staple!! :)

I love your work. Very beatutiful and your photo's are always amazing. I got a sewing machine for a gift and have yet to have time to use it, this makes me think I need to make time for it.
