today is the shortest day of the year. sunrise: 8:41 a.m. sunset: 3:38 p.m. it can only get better from here. thank goodness we have all that christmas cheer and candlelight and decorations to ease the bleak darkness. but today, i do feel a glimmer of hope already knowing the light begins to move in the right direction again tomorrow...
Wishing you a lovely solstice! I must confess, I adore this time of year!
ReplyDeleteI agree! What a difference it makes knowing the days will now get longer!
ReplyDeletei was just thinking of this
ReplyDeleteSo far this season's been OK, mostly rain and gray - no icy conditions, no wind storms following heavy snow. Even low snow makes a mess of Puget Sound comings and goings. Icy trees do break apart in high winds and trees topple and then the power's out for many hours often days because our power lines are strung between poles, 1950s fashion.
ReplyDeleteJulochka !! Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice, one and all!
ReplyDeleteThis is, in so many ways, the BEST day of the year...when the dark turns to light, oh...so....slowly.
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous shot J :)
ReplyDeleteThis photo is now living on my desktop as my Christmas wallpaper for the year. :) I hope you don't mind. I'll delete after the holidays, but it's just too beautiful to leave here without my family getting to appreciate it too.
ReplyDeleteThe shortest day...ahhh. Some days...short sounds REALLY good.
Great shot! I'm so glad the days are going to get longer now. I'm tired of walking the dogs in the dark!
ReplyDeleteI never realized the days got that short there!!! Wow! I am indeed looking forward to the lengthening days.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the best pics you have ever taken in my opinion. I can actually feel the cold.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm spamming, but for a good cause...

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful shot. It only gets better from here.;)
ReplyDeleteI am snowed in currently in a blizzard, so lets hope it will last trough Thursday, and finally make our Christmas Eve white.;)
If I do not get a chance later on, I am wishing you a lovely Christmas and all the best in the New Year.;)

I have been waiting for this day so arrive so that I can start watching the days grow longer!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, the solstice turned out to be the nicest day I've had so far this winter. I can't help but be cheered by knowing the days are going to start lengthening again, though. I planted some forced bulbs today . . . to bring on the spring.
ReplyDeleteat last the light is returning. I can't wait!
ReplyDeletebeautiful photo - as always :-)
