color palettes

as you well know, i'm all about color. partly because nikon rocks the color. and partly because that's just me. i surround myself with color in the world i inhabit. and i see it everywhere i go. so i was quite delighted when i spotted the big huge labs color palette generator today when i was making mosaics. i used several of my photos to generate color palettes. and to see whether i'm becoming attracted to colors other than blue, turquoise and green. and it seems that i am...

it's interesting that with a little different angle on the same yarn, a different palette came through:

it seems that i'm moving in the direction of purple. i wonder if the rest of the world will be too or if it's just me.

i also used a couple of my flickr favorites to generate a color palette:

 beatnik bazaar's beautiful crocheted blanket

soja's bright quilt

what's the current color palette of your world?

due to popular demand from saturday's bird post, i'm making birds. $35 for 5. just email me with your color choice. if you only want a couple, they're $8 apiece. i've got lots of great anna maria horner fabrics in pretty much any color you'd like, plus lots of other good stuff, just email me and we can talk colors.

  2. I have another blogging friend who uses this often but I love how you used it with the images of your surroundings that attract you. What a wonderful way to determine what colors really excite you most. I have never been a lover of pink in the past but finally had to accept that I have started a love affair with the deep hot pinks that keep finding their way into my work. Ah well, atleast Im not stagnant!

  4. Coolness!! Will try it myself! From your palettes, I'm mostly drawn to the second one.

So, are you in Sweden? Are you coming over for choco coffee? ;)

  6. It's very easy to be color-obsessed. Speaking of obsession, you may like this link. But beware, you are about to enter a black hole of time:

Also, do you know that there's an iPhone app by Benjamin Moore Paints? It can take any photo on your iPhone and then give you the paint name and color chit. You have to take the photo in excellent light in order for it to read true though.

    Have fun!

I couldn't find your email to respond to your comment the other day so sent a message through google friend connect. Did you receive it?

  10. I love color too, but I'm not too savvy about how to put several together. I just slowly add color and eventually it all comes out right.

  11. Oh, I could waste so much time on this link! (and love every moment) I have a definite color obsession. Hmm.. they'd all make great matting choices for the photos, too.

comments are the new black. so be trendy and leave one.

what is, however, not trendy, is if your comment contains an ad or a link to a spam website. those, like white shoes after labor day, will be deleted.
