it was, in every way, a glorious weekend - the weather was perfect - still, sunny, crisp. we played cards, walked in the woods, had a great lunch at a café overlooking sailboats in a marina, spent time with artists and laughed and drank sangria and wine with good friends. and all of the frustrations and disappointments of last week faded away into the distance. if they return, i'll have to just stir up a batch of these babies and serve them up.

They do look dangerously good...
My uncle picked mushrooms, fungi, whatever would be the appropriate name - lots of different ones and showed them to my mum when he was on his way home. She had a visitor but luckily she checked her mushroom book and then drove straight to my uncle's house - several of the ones he had picked had black crosses next to them in the book! A tad worse than flugsvamp, even. He had planned to check them before he prepared them though - or at least he said so.
Glad your feeling better and yes it was a fantastic weekend.

They're gorgeous. And I'm jealous. The amanitas have sprung up here in droves, but none of the red variety. We have a yellow one like this, but alas, no red. Thanks for sharing them.
Oh, and according to my field guide, eating these will cause delirium, raving, and profuse sweating... that sounds too much like menopause for me to be tempted to try them.

This is a first. I have never even seen a photo of a poisonous mushroom. My great fear would be that a child would pick it up to play with it.

i think maybe you don't understand how tumblr works - it creates a link directly to your fully-credited photo and funnily enough, directs traffic to it, thereby having new people discover your work. why don't you set up your flickr to not allow photos to be tumbled? it's possible to do so. and it's quite likely that not everyone who sees your photo is going to go read your profile and see your "rules," including the bad karma reigning down on their heads.
you can't be surprised that the world sees what you put online when you put things online for the world to see. and you certainly can't hope to control it.
