what are you gonna remember?

it's been a memorable day in more ways than i can express here at the moment. but it's also memorable because it's been absolutely perfect weather, once again.

sabin had a couple of friends over. they biked out here from in town (6 km) on this gorgeous afternoon. and they played in her treehouse, frolicked with the bunnies and drove the lawnmower around and around the yard. and i thought about how this is the stuff that memories are made of.

because what are you going to remember when it comes to it? sunshine. laughter.  being barefoot.

good food. more laughter. a bit of wine. a bit of cider. or juice if you're a child.

and biking with your friends.

what are you going to remember?

My earliest memory was going fishing with family and uncle.. we brought along some pizza and chowed down, stopping now and then to explore the woods on either side of us, or to watch my dad cast into the canal.. so true, though, about what we remember.
My entire childhood collection of memories is stuffed with outdoorsy days, and I couldn't be more thankful for them.

From this post I will remember your Danish husband in an Eddie Bauer t-shirt!

And ... I so agree that these ordinary days caressed with sunshine, children, play, sharing food are the stuff the best memories are made from.

I love seeing the girls in the treehouse in the background of the photo of your handsome husband.

I will remember choosing to build a fort in the sunshine today with my boy rather than tending to the housework. As I sit here I can see him with his brother busily tending their new play area and it makes me happier still that I made the choice.

First, that picture at the top is spectacular. And I do remember my daughter at age 9 or 10 driving a John Deere lawn tractor around and around the house and yard, when we were visiting Minnesota . . .

so true, those are the things memories are made of. we won't remember all the time we spent at work, we will remember the times we were at play.
