when the strawberries first come in earnest, we eat them with a sprinkling of sugar and a splash of cream. there will be time for creativity down the line. sometimes simple is best.

When I make a dessert using berries are other lovely fruit I catch myself thinking, why am I going through all this trouble? Just serve the fruit! It's perfect as it is.
Of course, I can't resist anyway. Fruit tarts are so lovely to look at!
