goodbye char

a beacon of light in the blogosphere
i just learned that char of the beautiful blog ramblins died (i'm sorry to be so blunt, but i can't bring myself to use that phrase passed away) on june 6. i feel so awful that it took me ten days to realize it. we're friends on facebook and pinterest and flickr and she has been a fast friend here in the blogosphere since my earliest blogging days. i had noticed that she hadn't posted to her blog since june 1 and hadn't really been around on FB and pinterest or stopped by to say hello, but i chalked it up to it being a busy time of year, so while i missed her, i never suspected anything was amiss.

i will miss her. her laughter, her stories, her heart, her beautiful photographs, her gentle comments, her recipes beautifully photographed, her beautiful soul. i can almost hear her southern accent, tho' i never heard it in person. and i feel genuine sorrow and a sense of loss, tho' we never met in person. she was a friend, in every real sense of the word. it feels like the blogosphere will be a little less bright without her.

char, if you're out there, know that we feel the world to be a lesser place without your presence. but we also feel richer for having known you.

    Life just goes on. Busily. And one expects everyone else doing the same.

    How did you find out? I often think that there is a need for some sort of 'funeral' service for online people. I mean, how do you tell the difference between someone who is just a really, really slack blogger (like me) and someone who is inhabiting a whole new cyberspace?
    And surely her followers would like to know what happened? Do you leave blog passwords in your will so that the executor can post an update?

    I can't beleive it either. Found out this morning. And I can't stop thinking about what happened to her.

    I'm sort of new out here but had found Char .... and had her on my blog roll. A wonderful voice the world is going to miss. I hope her family hears our warm thoughts.

    Oh no!!! We blogged together for awhile and she was such a sunshine spot in life. I had no idea she had been ill or that anything was amiss. She would sometimes be absent from blogging for a bit so I didn't think her absence now was "serious".

    My heart is heavy and I thank you so much for letting us know. Char will continue to spread her sunshine from wherever her soul has rested.

    Julie, I found out and it literally broke my heart, I am still in shock. Char and I often planned on getting together and it just never happened, she wanted to come and visit south GA. I posted a tribute to her also, its hard to figure out the feelings of such loss when in fact we never met, we did bond tho and she will always be in my heart xxx

    I don't have words. She was one of my favorite blog friends. I was just thinking about her yesterday and that I hadn't seen an update from her in awhile. I'm going to miss her terribly.

    WOW! I was a regular follower of her blog. Since she didn't blog on a very regular every day basis I hadn't realized it had been this long since I read a post of hers! She won a recent giveaway of mine. :-( How did you find out the news? And were there any details as to what happened? How she died, I mean?! Please let me know, if you don't mind. I'm very sorry to hear this. :-(

    I will miss her so, I have know Char as long as I have been blogging and am so saddenned by the loss of our friend. The universe is a lesser place.

    this was such a shock for me when Ali let me know yestereday I have been trying to find out what happened, I am so sad for her family and nieces whom she so obviously loved very much. I wonder if she knew just how we all cared about her. I hope she did I am very sad right now such a loss. miss you char xxoo

    So sad. There are times when I get busy and don't even realize when someone hasn't updated their blog - if I do notice, I just figure they got busy with 'life' like I do. Now I'll pay closer attention. Thanks for letting us know.

    i never met Char (we tried once to meet up in B'ham but it didn't work out) although she has been my blogger friend from the very beginning (one who always, always found time to comment and support my blog). I feel like i knew her like a friend. I am genuinely sadden right now just finding this out. I will miss her greatly.
