we had a most marvelous afternoon exploring old abandoned houses. we hoped to run into some ghosts (more about that soon), but other than one incidence of sabin hearing a voice, but not seeing anyone, we didn't have that much luck. we'll be doing this again before our trip is over. there are so many abandoned farmhouses in this age of big farms - it's no longer one family per property, so many have stood empty for years. they are both sad and pleasingly photogenic.

There is such a calm feel to your photos-- as if the houses are all resigned to their fates. Very interesting.
I can't help but wonder about the lives lived in these houses. Who were they? I am left feeling sad when I see them, standing alone and crumbling.

Amazing some of those are still standing. They look as if a whisper could blow them over.

In real estate terms, those are move-in ready fixer uppers.
We are seeing a lot of that out west too with ranches being bought out. I know from being involved in the sales transactions; the parents would want to retire and the kids didn't want the property. Tis sad.
it's funny, I find them so photogenic that they don't make me sad...
... visual proof, America doesn't need a middle class ...
