sankt hans, the midsummer celebration in denmark features the burning of an effigy of a witch. i'm not sure where that tradition comes from, nor why we perpetuate it. but there you have it. that's just how we roll here in denmark.
Actually it's kinda creepy - too much historic nastiness and religious zealotry associated with that ritual. It conjures Joan of Arc, Salem and the Spanish Inquisition.

Well, there ya go, that's one way of getting rid of old cloths! (Yea, and Bill is right...it is very creepy.)
